Meet Mike Donnellan
Mike is currently the Director of Operations, 16U Head Coach, and U15 assistant coach for Team Maryland Hockey Club. Mike is also the player performance coach for the Maryland Black Bears of the NAHL.
Mike Donnellan from Baltimore, MD is a former Prep, USPHL, Div 1 and Pro player. He played youth hockey in the Baltimore/DC metro area for the Baltimore Stars and Tri City Eagles before attending Vermont Academy for high school. At Vermont Academy Mike played all four years at the varsity level. In his senior year he led his team to the New England Prep Championship as team captain and he was awarded All New England honors.
After Prep School Mike played two years of Junior A Hockey in the EJHL for the Green Mountain Glades in Burlington, VT. In his second year Mike was named a League All Star. He committed to play Division I hockey for UMass-Amherst in the Hockey East Conference. At UMass, Mike played alongside several current NHL players including Washington Capitals Left Wing, Conor Sheary, Philadelphia Flyers Defensemen, Justin Braun, Dallas Stars Defensemen Joel Hanley, and Washington Capitals Defensemen, Matt Irwin to name a few.
Mike played professionally on six teams in multiple leagues including the East Coast Hockey League and Southern Professional Hockey League. In 2016 he was invited to the NHL’s Nashville Predators Training Camp, where he played against many of the top players in the world.
Mike is currently the Director of Operations, 16U Head Coach, and U15 assistant coach at Team Maryland Ice Hockey Club. Mike is also the player performance coach for the Maryland Black Bears of the NAHL. Mike has become an elite coach and developer since hanging up the skates in 2017. He has helped many local players reach high levels of hockey like AAA, Prep School, Junior, College, and the US National Development Program.
